  2. Question 4 answer : Peter chose to rest at a baseball field at a school because he was very tired, too tired to walk. In the text it says " he arranged his baseball glove and lowered his head" and "just an hour he murmured . I wont even close my eyes." , this evidence proves why Peter stayed to rest at the baseball field , because he was very tired.

  4. Question 1: I think that the vulture represents for Pax is a animal going to hunt for food which can be an insult for Pax because he was very hungry and he cant go anywhere just in case Peter comes back for him.

Question 2: Peters first mistake was to let his dad do this when he could of refused to get in the car with Pax. that was a mistake because he loved Pax very much.

Question 3: His second mistake was to get out of the car and throw Paxs favorite toy and didnt even say goodbye just drove away. The consequences are that Pax might be really mad and angry with Peter for just leveing him and also not even saying goodbye

Question 4: Peter choose to rest at a baseball field because he was really tired and he was near a school with a baseball field and there was no where else to go. " just an hour he murmured " "i wont even close my eyes ". This shows me he didnt want to travel anywhere farther because he was very very tired.

  6. For Pax vultures are predator but for Peter they are not predator. Vultures can claw Pax and bring him 100ft in the air and drop him and kill him.

  7. 1) Pennypacker mentions a soaring vulture several times what might this vulture represent

I think pennypacker mentions a soaring vulture because it means Pax saw a vulture in the air because soaring beans flying all around all over the place. Also a vulture is a predator and if they see an animal they try and get it and eat it

  10. Question 4: Peter decided to rest at a baseball field because he was too tired. It states from the story "Peter walked for five full hours. Blisters formed on his heels, and his shoulders ached from the pack." Peter was too tired because blisters started to form on his heels. That's why Peter decided to take a rest on a baseball field.

  11. Question#1: Pennypacker mentions a soaring vulture several times in chapter 3 because vulture is when it is something that another thing is hunting for. So pax was probably hunting for some food because he was hungry. But some thing must of hurt or harmed pax and then pax must of got mad.

  12. Answer for Question #1: Sara Pennypacker mentioned a vulture many times in chapter 3. Pax might have been scared of the vulture flying down toward him. I am sure that he was scared because he was trying to dig a hole to hide in. On page 27, it states, "Pax registered an instinctive alarm at the cool flicker of V-shaped shadow. He jumped from the trunk and scratched at the dirt beneath." This tells me that Pax was scared of the vulture flying towards him.

  13. Answer for Question #2: Peter's first mistake of his trip was not looking for his grandfathers old flashlight. On page 29, it states, "Not hunting for his grandfathers flashlight-that was the first mistake of the trip." This was a mistake because he couldn't see in the darkness of the night.

  14. Answer for Question #3: Peter's second mistake of the trip was sleeping out in the open. Somebody could have seen him and called the police because they thought Peter was a homeless child. I think this was the second mistake of Peter's trip.

  15. Answer to Question #4: In the text it states, "But beyond the parking lot and the utility buildings, he saw something a whole lot more appealing. A baseball diamond carved into the lime-green spring grass."

  16. question 4: language from the text that emphases why he went in the baseball field is on page 33 which it states" Mostly though it was the way the field looked so welcoming, as if it were inviting him in."this shows that he felt as if he was supposed to be there. Another quote from the text on page 34 it says"And maybe that was a sign." This shows that it was like the universe was trying to tell him this is where you belong. In conclusion, this shows two reasons peter decided to stay at the baseball field.

    peters first mistake is he
peter lied to the man and said he went to school and it was his lunch break. this is a mistake because the man could have contacted the school and he could have found out about peter.

peter second mistake is going back for pax because when his grandpa thinks he is coming home from school and he is not home he could get worried and call the police.

peter rested at the baseball feild because as it says in the text he felt welcome to the feild.

  25. Q1: The vulture represents that Pax is starving and almost about to die. Vultures eat dead creatures, or prey, so since Pax is not in motion for a long period of time, he appears as though he's going to die.
